1. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
1Imp 2.4
That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel. ;2Imp 10.31
But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin. ;Ps 141.3

2. I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
Ps 38.13
But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth. ;

3. My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,
Ier 20.9
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. ;

4. LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.

How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me? ;

5. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away. ;

6. Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

7. And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

8. Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.

9. I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.
